The direction here is quite hardcore: Empryo attempts to change how AI coding assistants modify code. In short, while most AI tools treat code as plain text strings, Empryo performs "AST surgery" based on graph structures, Abstract Syntax Trees, and full Language Server Protocol (LSP) integration.
This is not another chat wrapper — it is more like building a live "code genome." This means when the AI decides to modify a variable or function, it does so with a deep understanding of symbol references across the entire project, rather than relying on fragile text replacements, significantly reducing the risk of breaking existing logic.
The hard part is not getting an LLM to generate code, but allowing it to safely refactor complex, enterprise-scale projects. If you are frustrated by the limitations of text-based AI coding tools, Empryo’s compiler-level approach is a highly interesting technical direction.
